Cheese:
Cheese making was once carried out in nearly
all country farmhouses.
The dairy and cheese making equipment pictured, was to be found in Wensleydale.
The making of cheese from milk has gone through a transition over the
centuries from being a kitchen industry of the self-sufficient, to a farmhouse-centred
enterprise, and finally, in today's world, a predominantly factory-based
production line. Small scale cheese making survives on some farms as the
product is much in demand.
