New Landscapes, New Technologies

A new project, funded by the New Opportunities Fund, in partnership with Berkshire Record Office, "New Landscapes, New Technologies" published to the internet a wealth of material from the collections of Berkshire record Office and the Museum of English Rural Life.

New Landscapes

"New Landscapes" looks at Enclosure in Berkshire. It makes use of the latest digital technologies to provide access to historic manuscript maps and documents online. The maps and land awards on this site show the process of enclosing the common fields of the county of Berkshire between 1738 and 1883.

New Technologies

"New Technologies" shows the new implements and machines introduced into farming from the mid-eighteenth century onwards. British agriculture went through major changes in its structure, techniques and output during this period.
